Highschool Memories
This video was produced and edited by me and the boys of my class in high school. At that time, we were in grade 12th, which meant we were about to graduate. We decided to hold a small event for our class and the homeroom teacher. This product was made within one month including the production process, including editing, storyboarding, characters and settings. This project is called Parapluie, which means umbrella in French. With a view to be by the girls' sides and protect them anytime like an umbrella, the boys dedicated this video to the girls and the teacher. Since I was the first one to go study abroad in our class, I asked to join with the boys in this project, as my support and last gift for all of them. The most meaningful thing I've witnessed while working with these guys was that the boys were so enthusiastic and really devoted to it.
Although we did not spend much time making video and with little experiences, I asked for nothing more. The video was inspired by many trends on social networks, popular music videos in Vietnam and abroad and especially the highlights of each boy in the class. The video is about a reunion after 10 years of graduation, each of the boys has different jobs and all of a sudden they all get one number from one girl, they met, reunited and together reminisced our old school days.
The video is highly entertaining and mainly focuses on the main characteristics of the characters to then connect with each other by a common point that they are in the same class and play close to each other. We spent a lot of time coming up with the ideas, concepts and storylines to understand what viewers in general and girls in particular understand best. After reviewing, we found a lot of mistakes and ramblings, at the same time there were some technical errors such as sound, lighting and background. Fortunately, in our group, there was a friend who was well versed in professional video editing, so everything was pretty good overall. I was in charge of thinking of the lines, brainstorming ideas and choosing the characters, so I did not get much hands-on experience with video editing. After the project, I have also learned a few things that will assist me later in using Adobe Premiere Pro. Although this was just a video for a certain group of viewers, it helped me learn a lot about the basics of producing a complete video.
